Blis Technologies and Stratum Nutrition, Blis’s exclusive ingredients distributor, announced the publication of two recent studies, an in vitro and a clinical trial, each of which investigated the effects of BLIS M18, a probiotic strain, on black teeth staining, and both studies found that BLIS 18 is effective at inhibiting bacteria that cause black teeth staining.
 
BLIS M18 and its cell-free supernatant were effective in controlling the action of chromogenic bacteria that cause black dental stains, which are estimated to be present in 1-20% of children and adults. When black dental stains are removed by professional cleaning, they usually recur.
 
In the clinical trial, Blis M18 was shown to reduce the recurrence of the black stains in children who participated in the clinical trial after the stains were removed by a professional cleaning.

In the human clinical trial, 58 children between the ages of 4 and 10 yeasr old with black dental stains were broken into two groups, one of which was administered the probiotic, and the other which did not receive any treatment. In the test group, black stains were detected in 21.2% of the children who were administered the probiotic, and in 50% of the children from the non-treatment group after three months.
